Why Install Commercial EV Chargers?

Competitive Advantage

Businesses with EV chargers installed on site attract customers who drive EVs, boosting footfall and sales.

Customer Experience

Offering EV charging facilities makes it more convenient for EV drivers to visit your business and leads to higher satisfaction and loyalty.

Facilitating Fleet Transition to EVs

Installing chargers is essential if your company transitions its fleet to EVs. This strategic move reduces costs and emissions significantly.

Sustainability & ESG

Demonstrate your organisation's commitment to sustainability, enhance your public image and meet stakeholder expectations by supporting electrification.

Employee Happiness

Providing EV charging at work is a valuable employee benefit. Supporting staff who drive electric vehicles leads to higher morale, productivity, and retention rates.

New Revenue Stream

By charging for usage or offering subscription-based services, you can offset installation and maintenance costs while potentially tapping into a new revenue stream.

EV Grants & Incentives

Installing EV charging infrastructure is one of the most cost-effective ways your business can support its sustainability objectives.

Here are three ways to make it even more affordable.

NSW & WA Destination Grants

Tourism businesses in regional NSW and SMEs in WA can currently apply for government EV charging grants which cover 50 to 75 percent of the cost of installing charging stations on their premises. Contact us via the button below to find out more.

Instant Asset Write Off

Under the Instant Asset Write Off (ends June 2024) eligible businesses can write off the cost of an asset in the year the asset is first used or installed ready for use, up to the value of $20,000 per asset. Talk to your accountant about how EV chargers may be suitable for this incentive.

Flare

"We opted for Smart Commercial Solar for our EV charging requirements because at the time, the solar project they were delivering for us was progressing smoothly—on time, on budget, and without any safety concerns. This gave us a strong sense of confidence in their abilities. So, when it came to installing EV chargers, there was no better option for us. We were already familiar with this company and knew we could rely on them."

Your EV FAQs

How many EV chargers should we install in our carpark?

The number of EV chargers you should install depends on several factors related to your business. To make an informed decision, consider the following aspects:

  1. Evaluate the number of EV drivers associated with your business, including employees, visitors, and other relevant parties. The more users you have, the more chargers you may need to accommodate them.

  2. Take your budget into account. Ensure that your budget covers both the installation costs and the ongoing energy usage to operate the chargers effectively.

  3. Consider your energy grid's capacity and the size of the chargers you plan to install. These factors will influence how many chargers your infrastructure can support without overloading the system.

  4. Decide whether you want to future-proof your business by accounting for potential increases in EV adoption and demand.

  5. Determine the primary purpose of installing EV chargers. Are you aiming for profit generation, gaining a competitive edge, or fulfilling internal needs? Clarifying this goal will help align your charger installation strategy with your overall business objectives.

By carefully considering these factors, you can determine the optimal number of EV chargers to install in your car park.

Can I monetise my EV chargers?

Yes, if the software package you select allows for this - which our included software does - you can charge EV drivers for the energy they use while charging their car.
Talk to a member of our team today about how to cover your costs and reduce your payback period by monetising your EV charging stations.

How much does installing EV chargers in our carpark cost?

The cost varies depending on the charger, but it typically amounts to between $4,000 and $6,000 per charger. This includes hardware (i.e. the physical charger), software, cabling, and installation.

EV chargers can be paid for upfront, via monthly repayments or can be bundled into a PPA.

How long does installing EV chargers take?

Commercial electric vehicle charger installation can take up to anywhere between 4 hours to 3 days. The time frame depends on the number of chargers and your existing electricity system.

My business already has solar installed. Can we power our EV chargers with that?

Yes, you can. While it depends on the brand of the EV charger, most chargers are able to utilise the solar power previously installed. If most charging on your premises will occur during daylight hours, powering them using solar-generated energy is a highly cost-efficient way to go.

Contact a member of our team for more details.

My business has not adopted commercial solar. Can Smart just install chargers?

Yes, absolutely. Smart can install EV chargers for businesses without solar. Contact one of our solar experts today to chat about your options.
