Etex operates in 45 countries with over 13,000 team members, providing innovative building solutions to clients worldwide. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, Etex is dedicated to reducing their environmental footprint while delivering high-quality products and services.

When Etex kicked off a transformative sustainability initiative at their Sydney factory, safety was of utmost importance. Motivated by the sustainability goals outlined by their European owners, Etex sought to partner with a responsible, experienced renewable energy partner to integrate cutting-edge solutions into their manufacturing operations.

THE CHALLENGE

Etex aimed to align their manufacturing operations with global sustainability standards, seeking to reduce carbon emissions and enhance operational efficiency. The challenge was to integrate renewable energy solutions seamlessly into their factory infrastructure without disrupting ongoing operations.

THE SOLUTION

Etex partnered with Smart to design and implement a comprehensive sustainability strategy based on a deep analysis of the plant’s energy usage patterns. A 962kW system comprising 2187 Risen N-Type 440W rooftop solar panels, seven Sungrow inverters and two Ocular EV chargers was recommended, and preparations made for installation at Etex’s Sydney site.

The project ran exceptionally smoothly, thanks to meticulous planning and coordination between Etex's plant team and Smart. Smart demonstrated a strong commitment to safety and excellence, ensuring that the installation process adhered to the highest standards.

“Weekly meetings were held between our plant team and Smart Commercial Solar. Any issues or logistical issues were sorted out very, very quickly. Smart also worked around a lot of the requirements of the business, which was fantastic. So, the business interruption was minimal, if any."

– Greg Bartlett, Plant Manager, Etex

The installation of 962kW of rooftop solar panels was completed seamlessly, enabling Etex to generate renewable energy and reduce their reliance on non-renewable sources. Additionally, the integration of EV chargers provided employees with sustainable transportation solutions, further enhancing Etex's commitment to environmental responsibility.
