Renewable Energy Intern

The Role:

The Intern is responsible for supporting the Engineering, Analysis, or Performance teams in delivering high-quality insights, designs, and evaluations that contribute to the success of Smart Commercial Solar’s projects. This role involves assisting with technical assessments, data analysis, system performance evaluations, and feasibility studies, depending on the specific team placement. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the commercial solar industry and develop a strong technical foundation in renewable energy solutions.

The Intern will report directly to the respective team lead who will delegate tasks and provide guidance. The intern will collaborate with their teams to execute the assignments effectively. Workload management, training, and professional development will be overseen by the team leads to ensure alignment with business goals and industry standards.

  • Timely and well-organised support of the assigned team’s processes.
  • Accuracy and depth of engineering, analysis, or performance-related contributions.
  • Continual development of tools, resources, and best practices.
  • Acquisition and application of knowledge relevant to the Australian commercial solar sector and Smart Commercial Solar’s operations.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with internal teams.
  • Proactive problem-solving and analytical thinking in assigned tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities align with safety standards and best practices.
  • Deliver high-quality work within assigned deadlines, ensuring accuracy and reliability of engineering calculations, performance evaluations, or data analysis.
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail and follow best practices to minimise errors and inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure work aligns with Australian regulations and industry standards for solar energy systems.
  • Track and monitor work output and development, providing insights to the team lead for process improvements.

Required Skill Set

The Intern requires the following key skills and capabilities:

  • Basic understanding of engineering principles or data analysis methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage workload efficiently and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and interpret Australian Standards related to solar energy.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel; familiarity with additional software is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and interpret data insights.
  • Ability to produce technical drawings, site plans, or performance reports as needed.
  • Knowledge of solar system components, manufacturers, and industry best practices is advantageous.
