Very interesting news.  Engie, one of the largest energy providers in the world, is turning to solar after closing its coal plant at Hazelwood.  Strong evidence of the commercial viability of solar --the market is signalling that solar has arrived.  Here is an excerpt from the story:

The French energy giant shutting down a Victorian coal-fired power plant has asked Australian developers for solar energy proposals.

An Engie spokesman says the company has advertised in a renewable energy trade publication calling for developers to submit solar proposals before February 10.
