The Bunnings Alice Springs site represented the best return on investment for the client, this site could see around 16% saving off their daily energy requirements using solar. Due to localised high energy costs, the site will save tens of thousands a year the return on investment is under 3 years.

With Bunnings target to reduce their CO2-e emissions by 20% over the next few years, projects like this will accelerate their ability to make changes, with no negative impact on the customer experience.

Alice Springs is one of the hardest locations in Australia to transport equipment to and from. Freight is costly; we contracted a single semi to take our entire kit and pre-fabricated inverter enclosure directly to site and flew our installation teams from Sydney to complete the works in record time.

Local Support

Local support in these types of locations can be difficult. There is a skills shortage and those that have the skills are often busy. There is a second factor of islanded contractors, who are resistant to working with external companies. We flew our teams in and worked with a handful of great local firms to complete the project.

Network Connection Issues

We found the local network had not worked through the process of connection for a system of this nature and there were many changes to their processes, We provided adequate engineering support to make this as easy as possible for them.

IT Connection Issues

As we built the system, the promise that we had made with regard to a off-the-shelf Web based TV programmed display in the store was no longer available. We designed and built our own program to run video and performance data live in the store.
